There are numerous attorneys available to serve the public, but one should carefully do their research before making a final selection.  All attorneys are not the same!

First, find an attorney who has experience in the legal field you need.

Second, select an attorney who provides a free initial consultation to discuss your case.

Third, take advantage of a free consultation.  It will enable you to; 1) Personally judge the experience and knowledge base of the attorney.  2) Determine your comfort level in communicating with the attorney.  Do you feel comfortable asking questions?  Do you feel comfortable with the responses to your questions?  Will the attorney be accessible to you?  Will they be handling your case personally or will it be handed off to someone else in the practice?

Finally, discuss the cost of legal services.  All costs should be discussed with you up front. You don't want unexpected costs to occur later.  Remember, the lowest cost may not always be the best.  A fee, significantly lower than others in the area, may reflect lack of experience in the field or the bulk handling of cases.  Any mistakes in your legal representation now, may result in significantly higher costs later!
